The Office for Students in Transition (SIT) provides many programs and services designed to help first year students with their transition into the UMD community. We work with students to help them achieve academic, social, and personal success.
If you have a question or concern, and you do not know where else to go, stop by our office, give us a call or send us an email. We will answer your question, address your concern, or point you to the right person or office who can!
Starting at UMD? This mandatory program will help you register for your first semester of classes and start off your UMD education on the right foot.
This event begins with a mandatory program for new first year students the week before school officially begins. Students living in on-campus housing should plan to move-in on the Tuesday prior to the first day of school.
The UMD Seminar is designed to assist students in making a successful transition to UMD. It is an introduction to the academic, social, cultural, and personal opportunities that UMD can offer. Students will examine who they are, explore who they are becoming at UMD, and begin thinking about how their UMD experiences will affect their lives and the world around them after they graduate. This course in mandatory for students in certain colleges.
