Compleat Female Stage Beauty

UMD Theatre | Compleat Female Stage Beauty By Jeffrey Hatcher Directed by Kate Ufema Mainstage Theatre -
“She was the first of her kind. He was the last of his.” It’s 1661, the moment in time when women assumed their rightful place on the Shakespearean stages of England. King Charles II decreed that male players were no longer permitted to perform women’s roles, and the torch was passed. Jeffrey Hatcher’s historically based script places us in the minds and hearts of the people, and shockingly illuminates a brutal, rocky road of change. Adult language and subject matter. Not suggested for children under 17.

UMD Theatre | Last Summer at Bluefish Cove By Jane Chambers
Directed by Tom Isbell Dudley Experimental Theatre - Marshall Performing Arts Center In the summer of 1980, Eva Margolis leaves her husband and winds up in Bluefish Cove, not knowing she’s stumbled into a community of lesbians. What happens next will forever change her life – and the lives of those around her. Important in the history of lesbian theatre as being “the first mainstream quality literary piece of its kind,” Last Summer at Bluefish Cove is a love story that equally balances comedy and drama, provoking laughter one moment and tears the next.

Daniel Seddiqui, author of 50 Jobs in 50 States: One Man’s Journey of Discovery Across America, will be speaking at UMD.

Daniel Seddiqui graduated in 2005 from the University of Southern California with a major in economics and nationally ranked as a track and crosscountry athlete. He devised a plan to work 50 jobs in 50 states in 50 weeks.

“Failing at forty-plus job interviews was the best thing that had ever happened to me. … I knew this sounded weird, but I would never have started my journey if I had not failed at all those interviews. I learned from those experiences not to fear failure, and that was my biggest success.”

Daniel’s 5 lessons from his experience working across America are: Perseverance, Risk Taking, Adaptability, Networking, and Endurance.
