All programs in the School of Fine Arts are structured to be completed in four years. To meet this goal, students are advised to enroll in at least 15 credits each semester. Some sample program plans or four-year planning sheets may suggest more than 15 credits per semester.
It is important for students to understand and use their personal APAS (Academic Progress Audit System) reports to monitor progress toward the degree. The APAS is the official documentation that is used by the degree clearance office to post the degree at time of graduation. Questions about APAS reports should be directed to the SFA Office of Advising & Academic Services, 107 Montague Hall.
Students who have completed 90 credits or more should obtain and complete a credit check from the Student Assistance Center in 23 Solon Campus Center. Credit check requests should be returned to the Student Assistance Center. The credit check will then be returned to the student within approximately two weeks.
Active students who have completed 90 credits should review the UMD Degree Application Procedures. Apply for the term in which you are completing all your degree requirements (i.e., last term of enrollment).
Apply up to one year before you expect to complete all degree requirements. You must apply no later than the deadline for each term.
