If you can't pay tuition, fees, or other educational expenses without assistance, you can apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is used to calculate your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). This figure then is used by UMD to determine your eligibility for federal, state, and campus-based financial aid programs.
