13-Credit Tuition Banding
Credits above 13 per semester are tuition-free. All undergraduates pay a flat tuition rate based on a 13-credit load; credits 1-12 are assessed at a per-credit rate.
The tuition band is a way to help students reduce the cost of their education. Students who take advantage of the band and graduate in 4 years rather than 5 years pay significantly less. To graduate in 4 years, a student on average must complete 15-16 credits per semester.
UMD Tuition-banding approved effective fall 2007.
Study abroad credits do not apply to tuition banding. Review the Study Abroad Program Costs for more information.
