DULUTH - The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth is pleased to announce the hiring of a new director for the Internship Program, Angie Soderberg. She replaces Duane Kaas who retired with over 38 years of service to the University of Minnesota system.

Soderberg joins LSBE from the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS), where she worked in the Career Services Department. Her core responsibilities at UWS included engaging with students, employers, and academic departments to develop and facilitate career and internship programming. Prior to UWS, she worked at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus in a similar capacity.

An alumna of UMD (BA Sociology), Soderberg also holds a Master of Science in Education from Portland State University.

As LSBE’s Internship Program Director, Soderberg will provide teaching and instruction, direct student support and employer engagement.

“Angie’s expertise will increase the visibility and accessibility of internships to our students and business community,” said Praveen Aggarwal, LSBE Associate Dean. “Internships are invaluable for providing the hands-on experience that our students seek. It’s a win-win for both our students and businesses. We are confident that LSBE’s internship program will continue to grow and strengthen under Angie’s leadership.”

LSBE is accredited by the AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Less than 5% of business schools worldwide have earned this prestigious distinction. In Northeastern Minnesota, LSBE is the only school to have attained AACSB accreditation. Its website is lsbe.d.umn.edu.

UMD’s mission: The University of Minnesota Duluth integrates liberal education, research, creative activity, and public engagement and prepares students to thrive as lifelong learners and globally engaged citizens. Its website is www.d.umn.edu.
