Mark Seeley Speaks at UMD on Evidence and Stories of Climate Adaptation in Minnesota

Duluth, MN — The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Large Lakes Observatory presents Mark Seeley on December 12, 2014 at 4:30 pm in Chemistry Room 200.

Seeley of the University of Minnesota’s Department of Soil, Water and Climate, will present "Evidence and Stories of Climate Adaptation in Minnesota." The Climate Adaptation Partnership (CAP) Committee has been working actively since 2008 to promote and nurture a wide ranging community of climate adaptation practitioners. These efforts have helped produce some significant and successful climate adaptation practices at various scales, some of which will be described. Seeley will talk about this ongoing work and plans to host the first international conference in October of 2015 on “Democracy, Sustainability, and Climate Change.” The event is open to the public.

Seeley serves as extension climatologist/meteorologist, coordinating weather and climate educational programs with the National Weather Service, the Minnesota State Climatology Office, and various state agencies. He received his B.A. from the University of California Berkeley, his M.S. from Northern Illinois University and his Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska. Besides his work with the University of Minnesota he also often appears on Minnesota Public Radio.
