KUMD and UMD Team Up to "Stuff the Truck" to Benefit Damiano Center
Free tickets to Twin Ports Bridge Festival Available

KUMD 103.3 FM and the University of Minnesota Duluth are teaming up for its second annual "Stuff the Truck" event by collecting donations to benefit the Damiano Center of Duluth.

This year the truck will be stuffed with summer clothing and cash donations to help provide area individuals and families in need the appropriate attire for the warm summer months. The community members are invited to donate clean, gently used or new summer clothing items that fit individuals of any age and any size, including t-shirts, tank tops, shorts, skirts, sandals, etc. Especially children's sandals, shoes and clothing are appreciated.

Financial contributions to benefit the Damiano Center of Duluth are highly recommended and the first 500 cash donations of $10 or more will receive a KUMD Session CD as a thank you gift.

The donations are now accepted at KUMD, June 25-July 3, Monday-Friday during business hours 8am - 5pm, and in front of the main entrance of the Twin Ports Bridge Festival at Bayfront Festival Park on July 6, between 11am and 7pm. The first 25 people donating ten or more summer clothing items will receive a free ticket (available at KUMD) to Twin Ports Bridge Festival. All donations will go to Damiano Center of Duluth, which will distribute the donations to those in need.

"There are people in our community who can't afford proper clothing for the warm summer months, including families with children and elderly. We hope everyone will clean out their closets and help out," said Vicki Jacoba, KUMD Station Manager. "After last year's success we are dedicated to continue with the 'Stuff the Truck' event for years to come. KUMD promotes numerous non-profit organizations on the air all year long and we watch them do miracles in our community. 'Stuff the Truck' is another way for us to help the Damiano Center and the people they serve.

As the Official Radio Station of the Twin Ports Bridge Festival, KUMD celebrates Community Week, Monday through Friday, July 1-5, featuring area community leaders on Northland Morning at 8 am.

This is the second year KUMD has organized "Stuff the Truck" event to help an area non-profit. Last year KUMD collected 800 pounds of non-perishable goods for the Salvation Army and helped Twin Ports Bridge Festival and United Way collect $25,000 in cash donations for the 2012 Flood Recovery Fund.

2013 "Stuff the Truck" Donation Sites and Times:
June 25 - July 3 Mon-Fri 8 am-4pm KUMD on UMD Campus (130 Humanities | next to Weber Music Hall)
July 6 Sat 11am-7pm Twin Ports Bridge Festival (Bayfront Festival Park - in front of concert entrance)
