Making the Grade: Bulldogs Post All-Time High 3.11 Cumulative GPA in 2012-13 and 16 Earn Academic Scholar List Citations
A group of 16 Bulldog student-athletes have been named to the
University of Minnesota Duluth Athletic Academic Scholar List for compiling the
highest grade point average during the 2012-13 school year in their respective
sports.
Six seniors, one junior, four sophomores and five freshmen, all of whom were 2012-
13 letterwinners, comprise the UMD Athletic Academic Scholar List (*denotes
number of previous selections):
BULLDOGS MAKE THE GRADE IN 2012-13
Overall, UMD's 409 student-athletes, which includes redshirted freshmen, posted an
average GPA of 3.11 (an all-time high) in 2012-13 and of that group, 102 achieved
GPAs of 3.50 or above and eight turned in perfect 4.00 figures. During the Fall
Semester, the women's soccer Bulldogs produced the best GPA of any UMD teams
with a 3.43 mark and women's basketball took top honors in the spring, checking
in with a 3.54 figure. On the year, women's basketball registered a department-best
3.435 GPA while women's basketball (3.430) and volleyball (3.27) were next.
