2012-2013 UMD Chancellor's Awards Announced

UMD Doctoral StudentsLyle Shannon, Steve Colman, and Ladona Tornabene
DULUTH, MN — Three UMD faculty are recipients of the Chancellor's Teaching, Research, and Service awards for 2012-2013. Each will give a special lecture presentation on Tues., Feb. 26 at 3 pm in Marshall W. Alworth Hall (MWAH) 195 on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus.

Lyle Shannon, instructor in the Department of Biology and recipient of the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, will give a presentation entitled "The Evolution of a Biology Teacher."

Steve Colman, director of the Large Lakes Observatory and recipient of the Chancellor's Award for Distinguished Research, will give a presentation entitled "It's a watery world: International, interdisciplinary research at UMD."

Ladona Tornabene, associate professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation and recipient of the Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Public Service, will give a presentation entitled "A Fire in the Belly: Serving with Passion."
