2012 Heart Walk at UMD
Nationwide campaign scheduled to take place on campus
The 15th annual Northland Heart Walk is taking place at UMD on Saturday, September 29, 2012. Registration begins at 8:30 am, with the walk starting at 10 am.
"This is an amazing opportunity for campus and community members to join together for a healthy cause," said Rachel Gilbertson, UMD health coach and health educator.
Participants will enjoy live music and entertainment while walking the course. Free food and beverages for the walkers is provided by SuperOne Foods and Subway.
Throughout the day, a health fair with free screenings and health information will be available, as well as a Kid's Zone with a bounce house. Fun activities include making your own heart bracelet. Healthy snacks of blueberries and almonds will be offered.
Vendor booths include a Tribute tent (St. Luke's sponsor), a Survivor tent, VIP/Superstar tent (Century Link Sponsor), Lifestyle Change Tent (Interim Health Care), Food Tent (Super One Sponsor), Essentia Health Tent, and a Health Partner's Tent.

About the Annual Heart Walk
The Heart Walk helps raise money to support heart and stroke research as well as public and professional education programs. Research funded by the American Heart Association has yielded important discoveries such as CPR, life-extending drugs, pacemakers, bypass surgery and surgical techniques to repair heart defects.
