Childhood Development Educator to speak at UMD
Environmental educator, David Sobel presents "Why 21st Century Children Need Nature: Designing Natural Play Areas" lecture on Tues. Sept 18 in the UMD Weber Music Hall at 4:30 p.m.

"David Sobel challenges people to think about their relationship with nature in interesting and engaging ways," said Tom Beery, UMD environmental education professor. "In doing so, he has emerged as one of the strongest voices in environmental education today. On his upcoming visit to Duluth, he will challenge environmental educators, parents, city planners—really anyone who cares about kids—to consider how we can better provide our children with opportunity for everyday nature experience for health, wellness, and the inherent value in the human connection to nature."

Sobel's presentation shows previous areas where he has developed plans as well as options for the audience to establish their own communities and play areas.

This event is free and open to the public.
