UMD Bike/Walk to Work
Bike/Walk to Work Week ParticipantsThe scheduled campus bike and walk occurred on Thursday, July 7 with 20 employees arriving at work by bike or foot, having traversed a total of 89.54 miles. A breakfast and vendor fair were held afterward.
Catherine Rackliffe from the office of equal opportunity biked 13 miles one-way.
During the noon hour, 12 employees joined in the Group Bike Ride around campus, which was led by Associate Professor Paul Treuer and Susan Maher, dean of the college of liberal arts.
UMD auditors Al Decker and Michelle Balthazor biked round-trip to Glensheen to attend a meeting.
Mindy Granley, the sustainability coordinator, stated that the 20 employees who biked or walked to work on Thursday prevented 80.2 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions from entering our atmosphere (calculations based on the Cool Air Clean Planet Calculator, V6.6).
