Two at UMD Win National Advising Awards

UMD Professor Janelle Wilson and UMD staff member Pam Spencer were presented awards by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) as part of the 2010 National Awards Program for Academic Advising. Each was one of only ten in their respective categories honored nation-wide this year.

UMD Sociology-Anthropology Professor Janelle Wilson was selected as an Outstanding Advising Award Winner in the Faculty Academic Advising category. UMD Director of Student Records and Advisement (College of Liberal Arts), Pam Spencer was selected as an Outstanding Advising Certificate of Merit recipient in the Academic Advising Administrator category.

The NACADA membership consists of over 10,000 faculty, professional advisors, administrators, counselors and others in academic and student affairs concerned with the intellectual, personal and vocational needs of students. In addition, the NACADA is the representative and advocate of academic advising and those providing that service to higher education.

UMD Professor Wilson and Pam Spencer will be honored and presented with their awards in Florida during the NACADA Annual Conference this fall.
