UMD to Host Student Leadership Conference
Public Invited

The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD), in collaboration with University of Wisconsin Superior (UWS), will host a Student Leadership Conference entitled "Bridging Universities: Bringing Together People and Communities," on Monday October 27, at 4:00-7:30 p.m. in the UMD Kirby Student Center Ballroom.

The event is free and the public is welcome.

The keynote will be provided by Tim Wise, the author of "White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son." In his speech Wise will offer a personal examination of the ways in which racial privilege shapes the lives of most white Americans. The presentation will offer information for activists, educators, or anyone interested in understanding the way that race continues to shape the experiences of people in the U.S.

The conference continues with discussions led by Duluth Mayor Don Ness and speakers from UMD and UWS campuses on the following topics: Student Leadership, Diversity on Campus, Civic Engagement, Women in Leadership, Ethical Leadership and Bridging Town and Gown.
