Photography Exhibition To Benefit UMD Students
"Living the Dream"
Public Reception - March 11

UMD Professor Ladona Tornabene's month-long "Living the Dream" fine arts photography exhibition will open with a public reception, on March 11, 4-7 p.m., at Master Framing Gallery, located at 1334 W Arrowhead Road in the Kenwood Shopping Center.

The public is cordially invited to the free reception. Hors d'ouevres will be served.

Professor Tornabene's prints will be for sale at the exhibit now through March 31. All sale proceeds will go to benefit the UMD "Professor as Photographer Scholarship Fund", which was founded by Tornabene to help nontraditional students return to school and health education majors to intern abroad.

"Living the Dream" exhibit will feature all of Tornabene's limited edition fine art giclee prints as well as many open editions in multiple sizes and on a variety of papers. Unique to the show is a concept called 'PhotoARYphy', which combines photography and the work of watercolor artist, Margie Helstrom. In addition, Dean Paul Deputy, UMD College of Education and Human Service Professions, has donated a photographic print and written a tribute to the Professor as Photographer Scholarship Fund.

Professor Tornabene says, "Empowering nontraditional students to return to school to study health education is a burning desire of mine. There are so many single parents out there who are sacrificing to send their own daughters and sons through college. I wanted a means to help them come back and finish their degree, or start one." Tornabene is an associate professor in health education, in the UMD Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.
