UMD School of Fine Arts to Offer
Two Degree Programs
in Rochester this Fall

The UMD School of Fine Arts (SFA) will offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Graphic Design and a BFA degree in Art and Technology in Rochester, Minnesota beginning this Fall Semester 2006.

UMD offered a pilot of the program during the last school year, and this fall semester will begin the first full academic year of classes. Approximately 30 students are expected in the program this first year. Classes will be taught in Rochester, with some courses being presented by UMD from Duluth to Rochester via ITV.

The program is offered through U of M Rochester in collaboration with Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC). Students will take their beginning liberal education courses through RCTC, as well as their first and second year courses in the major. UMD will offer the advanced third and fourth year courses required to complete the major.

UMD School of Fine Arts is currently working on the development of a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree in Music Technology to add to its Rochester program.

Kara Bradshaw has been hired as coordinator of the UMD programs.
