UMD to Present
Mixed Blood Theatre's
Performance
"According To Coyote"
November 16

UMD presents Mixed Blood Theatre performing its wildly entertaining play "According To Coyote" on Wednesday, November 16th at 4 p.m. in the UMD Kirby Student Center Rafters (3rd floor). The performance is free, and the public is cordially invited.

A full-throttled anthology of tales featuring the legendary hero of American Indian lore, "According To Coyote" is also an unforgettable encounter with the richness, vitality and sensibilities of Native culture.

The performance incorporates music, dance, magic and narrative to bring to life this brave/foolish/sneaky/wise character in all his guises: Coyote the Creator, the namer of animals and bringer of fire; Coyote the Trickster, conniving for an advantage that usually backfires on him; and Coyote the Teacher, from whom lessons of humility, wisdom, and humanity are learned.

"According to Coyote" is one of several culturally-specific productions toured annually by Mixed Blood Theatre, a Minneapolis-based multicultural theatre company founded in 1976.

The event is sponsored by the UMD Diversity Commission, the UMD American Indian Learning Resource Center, UMD Housing and Residence Life, and the National Center for Outreach - PBS 8.
