UMD English Professor Steve Adams to speak on
"Perspectives on the Virginia Landscape: Yet More Ecocriticism"

February 20

University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) professor Steve Adams will present, "Perspectives on the Virginia Landscape: Yet More Ecocriticism" on February 20 at 12 noon in the UMD Solon Campus Center room 25.

Dr. Adams will discuss his current research project: a historical study of changing perspectives on the Virginia landscape. The project focuses on both the physical changes to the land over time, and even more importantly, on changes in the ways people have viewed Virginia - the varying preconceptions, paradigms, metaphors, and assumptions that shape and color their vision of, and relationship with, the land. The project draws on current trends is ecocriticism and cultural studies.

Following the presentation, there will be opportunity for informal discussion and questions.

The lecture is free and the public is cordially invited. Food and drink will be provided, and all are welcome to bring their lunch. The event will last 20-30 minutes.
