UMD Chancellor Martin Receives
National Academic Advising Association Award

UMD Chancellor Kathryn A. Martin has been named a recipient of the 2002 Pacesetter Award by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

The award recognizes chief executive officers, provosts, and chief academic officers who exemplify a commitment to academic advising and are outstanding advocates for students and student advisors. Martin will be honored and presented with the award in Salt Lake City, Utah during the annual NACADA National Conference in October.

Each year, since 1983, the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) has honored individuals and institutions making significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising. The goal of NACADA is to promote quality academic advising and professional development of its membership to enhance the educational development of students.

The over 6500 NACADA members consist of faculty, professional advisors, administrators, counselors, and others in academic and student affairs concerned with the intellectual, personal, and vocational needs of students. In addition, NACADA represents academic advisors and serves as an advocate for academic advising.
