UMD Sets Activities for
"Take Our Daughters to Work Day"
April 26

UMD has set a variety of activities in celebration of its 9th annual "Take Our Daughter to Work Day" to be held on April 26. Activities include experiments and presentations in 13 different areas including: biology, mathematics, sports nutrition, athletic training, Air Force ROTC, technology and more.

The free event is open to all UMD employees and their daughters. It begins at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast in the UMD Kirby Student Center Ballroom B. Keynote speaker for the concluding luncheon event is Lucia Barker, Assistant Professor in the UMD School of Medicine.

"Take Our Daughters to Work Day" is a national educational campaign launched in 1993 by Ms. Foundation for Women. It is designed to heighten girls' (ages 9-15) aspirations and help them make the connection between academic success and success in the real world. The Ms. Foundation theme this year is "Girl Force"--to show the world that the "Girl Force" of today is going to help change the "Work Force" of tomorrow.
