UMD Offers College-Level Courses in 12 Area High Schools
Total of 40 Freshman-Level Classes Being Taught

The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Department of Continuing Education has announced the expansion of its "UMD College in the Schools Program". The Program, begun at UMD in 1989, now has expanded into 12 area high schools, with a total of 40 freshman-level college courses. The 40 courses are taught in the participating high schools by the high school teachers, and are coordinated by UMD faculty members.

The courses provide qualified high school students the opportunity to earn college course credits while completing their high school graduation requirements. The "UMD College in the Schools Program" also provides ongoing professional development for instructors who teach in the Program, as well as research opportunities in the area of school/college articulation.

The UMD Department of Continuing Education further announces that it is a founding institution of the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP). The NACEP is an organization of American colleges and universities that offer college courses taught in partnering high schools. The Alliance supports and promotes its constituent partners through quality initiatives, program development, national standards, research and communication.
