Students spend the 2000-2001 academic year at the University of Birmingham, Westhill, located 110 miles northwest of London. Sabra S. Anderson, professor in the UMD Department of Math, is the program director. Along with their courses, the students also take field trips that will both supplement their courses and acquaint them with British culture and history.
Program participants must be current UMD students or students from other universities who are admissible to UMD. Students must have completed 25 semester credits, and an Introduction to Britain course, before entering the program. While in England, the students must maintain a grade point average of at least 2.4.
UMD faculty members form the core of the instructional staff for the program. UMD course offerings are complemented by those of British faculty members. All courses are offered for University of Minnesota credit.
UMD Study in England participants may take advantage of weekends and term breaks to travel to cities and historical areas within the British Isles and Europe.
