UMD Tweed Museum of Art Catalog Wins National Award

UMD Tweed Museum of Art received an American Advertising Federation National "ADDY" award in the ad federation's 2000 design competition. The national award was presented for the catalog design of Tweed's July 1999 national premiere of the exhibition "Botanica: Contemporary Art and the World of Plants".

The catalog was designed by Janice Kmetz, UMD graphic design associate professor, Department of Art. It was edited by Peter Spooner, Tweed Museum curator.

The "Addy" award will be presented in Las Vegas on June 22.

The traveling exhibition "Botanica: Contemporary Art and the World of Plants" features the work of 58 contemporary artists. Since its premiere at the Tweed in July, the exhibition continues on a 10-city tour around the U.S. through December 2001.

The show was organized and curated by Peter Spooner for the UMD Tweed Museum of Art.
