APPLICANTS SOUGHT FOR FINNFEST USA '92 UMD SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2000-2001 SCHOOL YEAR

UMD juniors, seniors, and graduate students of Finnish heritage are invited to apply for FinnFest USA '92 UMD Scholarships, for school year 2000-2001.

To be eligible: applicants must be full time UMD students (junior, senior or graduate level), and in good academic standing. Preference will be given to students of Finnish heritage who have at least one ancestor who was an immigrant from Finland to the United States. Preference will also be given to students from Northeastern Minnesota or Northwestern Wisconsin.

FINNFEST USA '92 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS FOR 1999-2000 ANNOUNCED

The FinnFest USA '92 Scholarships for 1999-2000 have been announced. Awards of $2,000 each were given to two UMD students.

Scholarship recipients were:
Kristen Putikka - Mountain Iron, Minnesota
Mark Wainionpaa - Gilbert, Minnesota

Thirty-four awards have been made, since the scholarship's creation in 1993.
