Fine Arts Academy

Fine Arts Academy , a unit of the School of Fine Arts , is a non-degree granting community school of the arts. The Fine Arts Academy enrolls over 800 Students in a variety of programs including Kindermusik, private music lessons, Suzuki Talent Education, as well as a variety of summer arts programs. Fine Arts Academy music programs are fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. Northshore Summer Music Experience

The Northland's finest music camp is held on the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Honor Festivals

Each Fall, the UMD Bands host their annual high school honor band festival. Each spring the UMD Bands host a junior high honor band festival. This festival typically features 2 or 3 honors bands each totalling between 60 and 100 musicians. For more information, see the UMD Honors Bands website.


Head of the Lakes Jazz Festival

This Festival is non-competitive in nature, offering positive, learning-based experiences for young jazz ensembles and many outstanding performers. Click here for more information.


Minnesota Flute Camp

The Minnesota Flute Camp at UMD is a two-day flute event featuring repertoire masterclasses, techniques clinics, daily warm-ups, and flute ensemble. Flutists will participate as performers, chamber musicians, and by contributing audience feedback. The camp is open to university flutists, high school flutists, teachers, and amateurs.
