Special Collections

Special Collections include Kathryn A. Martin Library materials that require special care or protection due to their age, condition, unusual format, or special subject matter. UMD's Special Collections include books, periodicals, maps, photographs, and some three dimensional objects. Notable special collections are the Northeast Minnesota Historical Collections that document the four northeast counties of Minnesota, books and materials related to our geographic region, and the Ramseyer-Northern Bible Society Museum Collection, which is a collection of Bibles focusing on the languages of the world.

Special Collections are available 8:00–12:00 and 1:15–4:30 Monday–Friday.

Contact University Archivist and Special Collections Curator Patricia Maus, Library Annex 202, email (pmaus@d.umn.edu or phone 218-726-8526.)

Generally, Special Collections must be used in the Archives reading room and do not circulate.
