UMD students, faculty, and staff can request materials from the Martin Library or other participating University of Minnesota libraries with the click of a mouse. Get It! provides system-wide paging and lending of library materials from all of the larger Twin Cities University Libraries as well as UMD, UM Crookston, and UM Morris.
Students and faculty/staff are able to select the items they want from the online catalog and manage renewals all from within “My Account.”
Paging and Direct Lending from UM Campuses
When you look up a title in the MNCAT Discovery library catalog and click on the Get It! request button, the system places a request on an available copy of the title. If the title is listed in the catalog but not currently available at any University of Minnesota library, the system recalls a copy from a current borrower.
The item will be retrieved and either held for the user at the selected pickup location or mailed to a faculty member's campus mailbox. (Instructors may choose "Office Delivery" as the pickup location to elect campus mail service of a requested item.)
Items eligible for Get It! include titles that regularly circulate for at least one week, such as books, bound periodicals, and music scores.
You may request an item that is currently checked out to another user. Items with loan periods of one week or more are eligible for recall.
If UMD's copy of a title is not available on the shelf, another copy may be available within the UM system. Select "Get It" to request an available copy. You will be prompted to log in to "My Account" (UMD students, faculty, and staff). The system will select a copy for recall.
The current user will be notified to return the recalled item within a week (if he or she has had it for at least two weeks). A new due date may be applied. Recalled items not returned by the recall due date will be fined at the rate of $1 per day.
Staff at the Circulation desk are available to help you search for materials. If the item you need is not found immediately, you can initiate a more comprehensive search by placing a "Get It!" request through the library catalog.

You willl need to use interlibrary loan (ILLiad) to request:
