Bugis

This language is one of the Malayo-Polynesian family and is spoken in southwestern Celebes.  The 23-letter alphabet consists of consonants, some of them compound, to which vowel points are added.  Shown is the Book of Samuel, published in Amsterdam in 1891. (postage stamp included to indicate scale)   #70
