Basque

The Basque language, which occurs in a number of dialects, is spoken by some two million people on both the French and Spanish sides of the Pyrenees, although most are in northern Spain.  This language is unique in having no known relationship to any other language in the world.  Displayed is a copy of the New Testament in the Labourdin dialect, printed in Bayonne in 1828.   #257
