Mac OSX: Setting up MyFiles or MyWeb

MyFiles allows you to create personal file storage space on the central system server (commonly known as bulldog). Files you store here are backed up nightly. While there is no fee to create your personal directory, there is a charge for files stored here (see Rates and Fees for details.

Note: Samba does not allow file names containing many common punctuation marks such as * { } = < > & / ? " ; You may have to rename some of your files if you have problems copying them to your Samba directories.

MyWeb allows you to create a personal web space on UMD's central web server (www.d.umn.edu). Your web space will have the URL www.d.umn.edu/~{your_username).

Note: Do NOT store private data in your MyWeb space. For private or confidential data, use Active Directory, NetFiles, or Google Drive.
