If the card reader took money from your card and did not print, come to the ITSS TechCenter. For smaller print jobs, the consultant can reprint for you. For larger print jobs, the consultant will complete a Printing Problem Refund Form.
PricingUMD uses a pay-per-page printing system.
There are real dollar costs associated with each page printed (paper, toner, printer wear and tear, etc.). Separating printing fees from lab fees distributes printing costs more fairly, eliminates excessive and wasteful printing, and allows access fees to be used for other computer-related services such as longer lab hours, more powerful hardware, new types and versions of software, etc.
How to PayThere are two ways to pay for printouts from ITSS printers.
-You will need to add value to your U Card at a machine in the Library lobby, near the Kirby Student Center Information Desk, or in the Swenson Science Building.
-If you do not have a U Card, you can also purchase a reusable "guest" card from the Library and Kirby Student Center machines. Once you have added value to your card, use the card reader and print station at any lab printer to retrieve your printouts. Detailed instructions are posted by each printer.
UNIX PrintingWe often receive questions about printing to our computer lab printers via UNIX commands. Rather than needing to know or memorize the name of each individual printer, if you send your jobs to 'laptop' (no ' ' marks) your UNIX print jobs will be viewable on the print stations in all print areas. For more information on UNIX commands, including printing options, visit the Unix Commands web page.
