A variety of furnished housing is available at UMD for students who wish to live in University residence halls and apartments. The University offers housing to approximately 1,850 students in traditional residence halls and approximately 1,100 students in apartment-style units.

Wireless internet is available in all University housing facilities. Basic cable television service is provided in all rooms and apartments. All laundry facilities may be used by residents at no additional charge, but residents must provide their own laundry detergent.

Residence Halls

Residence hall rooms are furnished with beds and mattresses, draperies, desks, chairs, drawer space, wastebaskets, compact refrigerator, basic cable tv service, and wireless internet. Almost all rooms in the residence halls are designed for two students. Students living in the residence halls must provide their own bed linens (pillows, sheets, pillow cases, blankets and bedspreads).

Apartments

Each apartment is designed for four students. Apartment units are furnished with refrigerator, stove, couch and chair, end table, dining table and chairs, beds and mattresses, desks, chairs, dressers, desk lamps, shower curtain, draperies, basic cable tv service, and, wireless internet. Apartment residents provide their own paper supplies, cooking and eating utensils, sheets (36” x 80”), pillowcase, pillows, blankets, and bedspread. Study areas and laundry facilities are available in all apartment complexes.  Our apartments are within close walking distance to other campus buildings.

Students residing in the on-campus apartments have access to the same services and support that students living in the Residence Halls do.  Our apartment facilities are staffed by a full time Residence Director and Residence Advisors who provide one-on-one support to students, and also provide activities to students to build community and aide in their development.
