AdmissionsUniversity Honors is looking for the highest motivated students in all disciplines at UMD who want to participate actively in their education. It attempts to bring together students with diverse talents, interests, and experiences.
Application procedure We begin accepting applications for the upcoming fall semester almost a year in advance starting the November prior. Incoming freshmen are asked to apply to the program by no later than May 1. The application consists of an essay, a list of extracurricular activities, and three reference letters. Your essay must address the following question: Why do you want to be a part of University Honors? We make offers on a rolling basis starting in mid-March and ending once we have filled all of our seats. Therefore, early applications are more likely to be successful. We will also review applications from current undergraduates in their freshman or sophomore years (including transfer students) who have a cumulative GPA at or above 3.3.
