The Peer Health Educators is a student organization working to promote healthy life choices. There are two groups within this organization. One group focuses on comprehensive sexual health education (S/HE) while the other group, Alcohol Peer Educators (APE) addresses alcohol harm reduction. Both groups take a risk-reduction approach to their education.
Members meet weekly for one hour to discuss current issues, meet with guest speakers, and to plan presentations and events accordingly. Peer Health educators are also given the opportunity to volunteer additional time on special projects throughout the year.
S/HE, contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information
APE, contact email@example.com for meeting location
We are looking for students who have an interest in both learning about sexual health or alcohol issues and sharing that information with other students in a variety of ways, to include classroom presentations, informal discussions in housing units, tabling on campus, creating educational documents and brochures, and volunteering for a number of programming events.
The main topics the sexual health educators cover include:
The alcohol peer educators cover these topics:
Our approach will be to provide information to students in an interactive, fun and candid style, therefore leaving students better equipped to make decisions regarding their own health.
