UMD Graduate School

Program Overview

This University-wide program includes the Ph.D. and M.S. graduate degrees that may be pursued within the U of M Medical School, Duluth College of Pharmacy, U of M College of Pharmacy, and Duluth, also known collectively as the AHCD. Degrees can be earned in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics, Toxicology, Pharmacology, Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, and Social and Administrative Pharmacy. Inquiries regarding Neuroscience, Cellular and Integrative Physiology, Microbiology, Immunology and Cancer Biology and Pharmaceutics are welcome.

Deadlines and Dates

The application deadline is March 15; however, prospective students are strongly encouraged to apply by February 1 in order to compete for the limited number of graduate student assistantships.

Financial Aid

A limited number of teaching and research assistantships are available through affiliated departments. Graduate students holding an assistantship are eligible for health benefits and tuition waivers of up to 13 credits per semester.

Graduate School Fellowships and other fellowships are also available on a highly competitive basis. Prospective students must be nominated for these by the program, rather than applying directly. Applications should be completed by December 15 if a Graduate School Fellowship nomination is sought.

The AHCD program offers an array of different areas for studies. Specific research opportunities may be found on the websites of the AHCD faculty members.
