Screenings & Immunizations
UMD WellCare is pleased to provide several screening and immunization options for UMD faculty and staff. An appointment is required, and eligibility may vary slightly by the visit type. To schedule an appointment, call UMD WellCare at (218) 726-8666 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please bring your insurance card and UCard (or other ID) to your appointment.
As part of the UMN Wellbeing Program, biometric screening is available to all University faculty and staff (current or retired) and their spouses covered by UPlan insurance. This screen includes a simple blood test for cholesterol and glucose, blood pressure check and body composition for 150 wellbeing points. More information about Biometric Screenings.
Blood Pressure Checks
If you would like to have your blood pressure checked, please stop into UMD WellCare during walk-in hours or contact the UMD WellCare nurse at (218) 726-8666 or email email@example.com to set up a time. There is no charge for this service and is available to all UMD faculty and staff.
A Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) (also known as Mantoux or PPD) can be done to test for TB exposure. The test is applied one day (appointment takes 15 minutes or less), and results must be read within 48 - 72 hours. Since UMD WellCare is closed on Fridays, a TB skin test can only be applied on a Monday or Tuesday, in order to be read in the required timeframe. If the test is not read within 48 - 72 hours, it will need to be repeated.
UMD WellCare is able to provide the following immunizations by appointment for UMD faculty and staff and their spouses covered under UPlan insurance. There is no co-pay charged, but the bill for the vaccination may be sent to your insurance company. Follow the links below to learn more about the vaccine via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Vaccine Information Statements (VIS). Note: The annual flu shot pledge is worth 25 wellbeing points. To get credit, log onto your Redbrick portal account.
*Flu vaccine availability on campus:
The 2017 flu shot clinics have been completed for UMD staff, faculty and students. UMD WellCare is out of flu vaccine for this flu season (as of 24 January 2018). If you have not had a flu shot, please check with your pharmacy or primary care clinic, with your pharmacy likely being the better option.
