Four Cornerstones of Financial Literacy


This core financial education class will use learning circles and games to make personal finance come alive. Attendees will develop and hone their skills in four key aspects of financial literacy – budgeting to create savings, debt reduction, building a good credit score, and consumer protection.

This series is free and consists of 90-minute sessions, four weeks in a row, right on campus, open to any employee of any income level.
Class size is capped at 25 and commitment to all four sessions is required.

*You do not need to be a UPlan member to participate in this program. UPlan Members: By attending all four available sessions, you will earn 150 Wellbeing Points

Courses are provided by: LSS Financial Counseling.

Wednesdays, 2:30-4:00pm  UMD Kirby Student Center 335- Gooseberry Falls Room

  • 3/7: Budgeting to create savings

  • 3/14: Debt reduction and asset building

  • 3/21: Building a good credit rating

  • 3/28: Consumer protection and financial institutions
