Employees at UMD Make a Difference!
As a faculty or staff member, you are crucial to the University’s mission of integrating liberal education, research, creative activity, public engagement and preparing students to thrive as lifelong learners and globally engaged citizens.
Did you know? Over 800 UMD students receive a scholarship from donor contributions each year.
We all know that our students are paying much higher tuition to attend UMD than ever before. In 1968 an average student would have needed to work 6.2 hours a week at a minimum wage job to pay for their UMD tuition. This year a student would need to work more than 38 hours, per week, to pay for tuition.
To continue to attract and retain students UMD needs your support. As well as academic support, qualified students need the financial support that the Employee Sponsored Scholarship and all other scholarships provide.
Your Gift, Your Choice
You can choose how you designate your gift. You can give to the new Employee Sponsored Scholarship or any other scholarship fund or a specific college, department, or program that is of interest to you. You can choose how you would like to give. Gifts can be made by check, credit card, or payroll deduction. You choose what your gift supports and all gifts are tax deductible.
The easiest way to support the Employee Sponsored Scholarship, or other scholarships, is through the payroll deduction program. By signing up for payroll deduction you can give a little each pay period and have it add up to a significant amount by the end of the year.
By giving $5 per pay period, less than the cost of lunch, you can give over $130 per year.
By giving $10 per pay period, about $.71 per day, you can give over $260 per year.
By signing up for payroll deduction you can give a little each pay period and have it add up to a significant amount by the end of the year.
Your gift, paired with other employees, will have a tremendous impact for a student or program.
