In the University of Minnesota Board of Regents Policy “Equity, Diversity, Equal Opportunity, and Affirmative Action, guiding principles are set forth. These principles guide the University’s commitment.

a)       Consistent with its academic mission and standards, the University is committed to achieving excellence through equity and diversity.

b)       A diverse student body enhances the academic and social environment for all students and prepares students to thrive in an increasingly diverse workforce and society.

c)       Equal educational access is critical to preparing students for the responsibilities of citizenship and civic leadership in a heterogeneous society.

d)       As a community of faculty, staff, and students engaged in research, scholarship, artistic activity, teaching and learning, or the activities that support them, the University seeks to foster an environment that is diverse, humane, and hospitable.

e)       In partnership with community groups, the University is committed to serving the state, the nation, and the world through its outreach and public service.

This University of Minnesota Duluth Non-Discrimination Statement supports these guiding principles and further the work of achieving equity, diversity and social justice.

The University of Minnesota Duluth prohibits discrimination in its educational programs or activities on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, age, religion or religious creed, disability or handicap, sex or gender (including pregnancy, sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct including acts of sexual violence such as rape, sexual assault, sexual exploitation and coercion), gender identity and/or expression (including a transgender identity), sexual orientation, military or veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state or local law. Retaliation is also prohibited.

Reporting Discrimination

Any member of the University of Minnesota Duluth community has the right to raise concerns or make a complaint regarding discrimination without fear of retaliation.
