-CUE & A-
A Dialogue with the Community
MONDAY, MAY 4th, 2015, 4:30PM – 7:30PM
CLYDE IRON WORKS - 2920 W Michigan Street
Join UMD's Cultural Entrepreneurship program as we explore over 20 student-created entrepreneurial business ideas, gain insights from our local entrepreneurs, and seize the opportunity to improve the Duluth Community in a variety of ways, as well as enable students to take a step forward in their own educational, business and creative paths.
The event is a showcase of the culture and creative enterprises ranging from initial ideas to those that are well on their way towards becoming new ventures in the near future. You can witness and participate in SPEED MENTORING wherein local entrepreneurs and leaders provide feedback to a team of students on their enterprise. If you have been to a previous CUE&A Event then you can witness the evolution of student projects from concept stage to one that is a viable cultural enterprise.
The ideas range from Craft Brewing, Music, Healthy Living, Social Justice, Education, to Environmental Issues. Below are some examples of business ideas which will be presented at the event:
BC Brewing: An enticing taproom experience with uniquely flavored craft beer made from local botanicals and herbs
The Prickly Pear: A summertime escape in the blizzard that blankets Duluth, which also serves quirky, alternative health foods and products
The Wild Midwest: A special Midwest Artists' record label
KNACK: A social enterprise to raise awareness about Social Justice issues in the Midwest
Fitness CUEst: A unique fitness experience tailored for baby boomers of the northland
Grocery Home Delivery: A grocery delivery service for Duluthians who would lack access to fresh foods and proteins, as well as those who wish to better utilize their time
Duluth and Confused: National Geographic style magazine to connect new Duluthians with their city
Students: Come and gain inspiration, network with community leaders and fellow students, open your mind to possibilities.
Community Leaders: Come and mentor prospective culture and creative entrepreneurs, be a positive force in shaping the careers of students, learn from students' creative capabilities, network with fellow community leaders and students.
Speed Mentoring is from 5:00 to 6:00 PM
Engage in lively dialogue and show your support for keeping Duluth a thriving arts and business community.
