Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders

Policy on Closings in the Event of Severe Weather or Other Emergencies

(Dept approved 02/25/2014)

If a client wishes to cancel, the intern is to follow clinic protocol for canceling and rescheduling appointments.

All cancelled appointments should be listed on the Emergency Board.

The RFP Clinic in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders follows the closing policies of the University of Minnesota Duluth.

If the Chancellor or designee decides to close the University, the closing will be announced on local media as specified in university policy. Faculty, staff, clients, and students of the program are responsible for checking local media for closing announcements. IF the university is closed, the clinic also is closed.

If the university is open, the clinic will be open unless otherwise notified by the Department Head or the Clinic Director.  The instructors, director, and secretary will coordinate efforts to contact clients in the event of an unplanned clinic closing.  Interns may be asked to contact clients from the clinic and confirm appointments or reschedule appointments as their instructors see fit. If a client wishes to cancel, the intern is to follow the clinic protocol for canceling and rescheduling appointments.
