Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders

Policy on Closings in the Event of Severe Weather or Other Emergencies

(Dept approved 02/12/08)

The RFP Clinic in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders follows the closing policies of the University of Minnesota Duluth.

If the Chancellor or designee decides to close the university, the closing will be announced on local media as specified in university policy. See the full Department of Human Resource policy . Faculty, staff, clients, and students of the program are responsible for checking local media for closing announcements. If the university is closed, the clinic also is closed.

If the univesity is open, the clinic will be open unless otherwise notified by email from teh Department Head or the Clinic Director.

It typically is the intern's responsibility to contact clients and cancel appointments, as well as reschedule approintments. As they see fit, clinic instructors may make different arrangements for contacting clients, e.g. the instructor will call for the intern. At the start of the semester, the intern and instructor should agree upon a plan for contacting clients.  The clinic secretary is not in charge of cancelling appointment.

If a client wishes to cancel, the intern is to follow clinic protocol for canceling and rescheduling appointments.

All cancelled appointments should be listed on the Emergency Board.
