For Faculty & Staff

As an important contributor to student’s experience at UMD, many of you may have built relationships with students going through a difficult time. Understand that, as a support and learning process, interactions through the Office of Student Conduct assist students with their own development. This effort may require them to go through the student conduct process and they may approach you for advice or support. If you have any questions about the process or how to support a student going through our process do not hesitate to contact our office at (218) 726-7255.

Note: If serving as an advocate, you are not representing the student but serving as a support person to them. For the student’s development and education, our process addresses the individual(s) involved in the allegation.

Report a Behavioral Incident

To report an incident, you must respond affirmatively to the following:

  • I am a student, staff, faculty, or University community member.
  • I am aware that the accused will have access to my complaint.
  • All of the information I provide will be accurate to the best of my knowledge.

If you respond affirmatively to all of the above, file an Incident Report.

An investigation gathers information in an attempt to determine the facts surrounding an incident, hear relevant witnessess, and understand all sides. From there, responsibility and sanctions are decided upon.
