University of Minnesota

Interdisciplinary Studies Program

Interdisciplinary Studies are programs that students and/or faculty design to meet the needs of students whose interests and career goals fall between the academic disciplines offering majors at UMD. Guidelines are available for some programs, like those in Humanities/Classics. But the majority of our majors design their own programs with the assistance of interested faculty. They create majors which don't fit in the conventional compartments and departments.
