Welcome to the University of Minnesota Duluth

At UMD, we never stop striving for excellence. Our faculty and staff work hard to establish strong bonds with our students, encouraging them to explore their strengths and turn their passions into careers.

We continue to build upon our mission and advance our strategic priorities. These actions help us to continually grow as an inclusive and equitable campus. That’s good for the UMD community and the world as a whole.

Connections to nature and Lake Superior inspire us to address challenges in resource management and sustainability and provide students with opportunities to assist faculty in high quality, impactful research that has global relevance.

We are committed to academic achievement, new ways of teaching and learning, and community engagement. Our faculty give students a quality education that prepares them for success in a diverse world.

UMD students continue to be highly successful in finding jobs after graduation. According to our most recent Career Services survey of nearly 2,000 alumni from the class of 2014-15, 97% of alumni stated that they are either employed or continuing their education. Even more impressive, 87% of those employed said that their work is related or somewhat related to their majors.

There has been a lot of great news to share over the past year, especially in the areas of academic excellence, world-class research and creative activities, and making a difference in our local, national, and international communities. I hope you’ll take a moment to visit the UMD News site to see what our faculty and staff our working on and our students are achieving.

I am grateful and proud to serve as UMD’s chancellor, and I hope you will join me and the UMD faculty and staff in celebrating the successes of our students as we challenge ourselves to even greater accomplishments.
