  • CSD 5195 – Special Topics - China Conference
    • Outcome statements should more clearly outcomes and not include the course process. The outcomes need to be modified.
    • Unanimous approval with minor modifications.
  • CSD 5260 – Seminar in Orofacial Disorders
    • List as ‘new’ course on the form even though it was previously taught as a topics course.
    • Change #16 to “print only.”
    • Change #17 to “none”
    • Unanimous approval with minor modifications. (ensure everything is completed that is required as a new course)
  • SW 5095 – Special Topics - Using the DSM in Social Work Practice
    • Background: This content is required for licensure.
    • #5 needs editing (remove ‘be’)
    • Unanimous approval with minor modification
  • SW 8105 – MSW Final Seminar
    • This is a zero credit course. SW is a coursework only program, but students are required to do a portfolio and final seminar. These activities have been continuously required. The course would be a required part of the program and would provide a graded course that covers the portfolio and final seminar.
    • Unanimous approval.
    • Unanimous approval was also provided for this to be added, by memo, as a program requirement.
  • Educ 7025 – The College Student in America
    • This was developed to be summer, elective course for Ed.D. and M.Ed.  students, but the courses (Educ 7025 and 7035) would be available for other students who are not in Education.
    • This proposal should be put on the September, 2010 curriculum form.
    • There was discussion about if the department wants to restrict the course to only some students – such as students who have completed an undergraduate degree. If that is desired, the prerequisites and consent should be modified.
    • Outcomes should be modified to follow an outcome format with measureable statements.
    • Add an updated bibliography.
    • Unanimous approval with modifications.
  • Educ 7035 – American Higher Education
    • This course needs to be put on the newer VCAA form.
    • This course would be offered first in Summer, 2011.
    • This was developed to be summer, elective course for Ed.D. and M.Ed.
    • #9 indicates this would also be offered odd years and Education may want to have it alternate years with Educ 7025.

    • There was discussion about if the department wants to restrict the course to only some students – such as students who have completed an undergraduate degree. If that is desired, the prerequisites and consent should be modified.

    • Outcomes should be modified to follow an outcome format with measureable statements.

    • Add an updated bibliography.

    • Unanimous approval with modifications.

    GPC agreed it will formalize its procedures according to the following protocols:

    • Proposals need to be in by 4pm on Friday, one week before GPC meeting.
    • An agenda and proposals will be sent out to GPC members on Monday morning of the week GPC is scheduled to meet.

    Ken will propose a policy statement regarding full time status and student assistantships.
