Graduate Programs Council
10:00 a.m., December 7, 2001
Present: Mark Mizuko, Melanie Shepard, Sue Damme, Aydin Durgunoglu, Ken Gilbertson, Jackie Millslagle.
Absent: Frank Guldbrandsen, Helen Rallis
Bud McClure was present to address questions relating to curriculum proposals for:
- M.Ed. (Concentration in Community Counseling; 48 credits)
- M.Ed. (Concentration in School Counseling; 48 credits)
- M.Ed. (Concentration in Psychology; 30 credits)
He explained the proposals were a result of expressed interest from students, because they offer mentoring opportunities for faculty in special interest areas, and because they offer flexibility for students. He addressed questions relevant to the M.A. vs. M.Ed. issue, and licensing for community counseling majors.
Ken moved, Aydin seconded, a motion to approve all 3 programs. Motion CARRIED.
Members were asked to submit spring schedules so meetings could be scheduled starting mid-February. This is the last regular meeting for fall semester. Between now and mid-February, the Education Department will be reviewing current M.Ed. programs and will report to GPC early in the spring semester.
