Discussing Assessment Results and Determining Potential Improvements

After student learning is measured and data is compiled, individuals involved in delivering the program should use the data to determine the extent to which satisfactory performance was achieved for the program SLO assessed (refer to the program's Assessment Plan).

  • Consider previous assessment results, if conducted previously, what program changes have occurred, and what the results suggest.

  • Reflect upon the assessment methods to evaluate their reliability and validity.

  • Draw from the data and interpretations to identify potential ways to improve.

One method for organizing discussions of the data is outlined in "An Introduction to the Protocol for Examining Data."

Additional discussion practices are available in "Program Discussion Guidelines."
