Thank You, Alumni, For Another Great Year

September 12, 2017

Our mission is to create new experiences, connect alumni, and provide resources for all 71,000 alumni. We're proud of the work that was put in by faculty and staff, alumni, and current students in 2016-17. The success of our volunteers, events, and programming was impressive.

Those noteworthy achievements included 436 hours of service completed by 140 volunteers. Alumni volunteered at the Minnesota State Fair, a Timberwolves game, and numerous watch parties hosted around the country. There were 18 events exclusively coming out of the Office of Alumni Relations which had over 1,400 people attend. Major events included Networking Night, Game Night, and UMD Grad Party. The Watch Parties held for the Men’s Hockey Frozen Four tournament connected alumni from all over the country to bond over one thing: being a proud Bulldog. It was a great opportunity for Bulldogs to come together as one and show support for the University. Another incredible achievement of last year was the advancement of Bulldogs of the Last Decade (BOLD). BOLD is a young alumni committee that has gained members who are actively involved in numerous events and volunteer opportunities. As a committee, they have collectively volunteered over 100 hours. Thank you again for all the hard work!

The year ended with a bang at the annual Grad Party held at Glensheen Mansion. Current students, staff and faculty, and alumni volunteers had a great time mingling and sharing stories of their time at UMD. It was a perfect segway into helping students learn what being alumni is all about. The whirlwind of a year brought meaningful connections, lots of laughs, and plenty of new experiences. It will be difficult to top, but the programming and special events have only started to gain traction. The Office of Alumni Relations is adding Coffee & Connections Series and Alumni Adventure Series for the upcoming 2017-18 academic year.
